Doel Graffiti Ghost Town
Doel – Niels Paredis
My hotspot is Doel. It’s an abandoned village in the middle of the Antwerp harbour. People left years ago due to an enlargement of the port of Antwerp. This event turned what used to be a sleepy polder village into a ghost town. Graffiti artists found their way to it, and covered nearly every wall with their art. Biking or wandering through these streets is kind of crazy, but for me a must see. This could be the Antwerp version of Wynwood in Miami. If you feel like ending your tour with a drink or snack, there’s a bar/restaurant in an old mill called ‘De Molen’.
